Summer is the time when many of us go off on vacation, and burglars know it. They look for weeds, papers piling up in driveways, cars missing from garages, lights left on all night and all day.
Hopefully, the neighbors are watching too, and call police if they see something suspicious.
The hurt you feel when you see your home violated, with things tossed around and broken, and treasures missing, is impossible to measure in dollars. Often, that hurt never heals.
On the plus side, the neighbor who called the police so they could catch the thief will never be forgotten, and will always be a hero. That action may not be able to take away the fear completely, but it balances it with faith in the goodness of people.
Please, if you see something, say something!
What is a senator?
The title of senator used to be a noble one in the state of New York. Now, with the shenanigans going on in Albany, it’s become the butt of jokes.
Our local senators have made such a difference in our lives, working hard to fund our schools and hospitals, improve our infrastructure, curb drunken driving. The list goes on and on.
Now, it seems, nothing can get done.
